About Jungle Junction

For over three decades, Jungle Junction has specialized in all types of birds and their needs, ranging from small finches to large parrot species — and wild birds, too.

As a child, Founder Renee Ducharme cared for over 100 birds in the family aviary. Birds have always been part of her life.

In 1989, she opened Jungle Junction (originally in Pawtucket) to share her long-time passion for birds with others. Customers came to rely on and appreciate her avian knowledge; ability to source the freshest quality food, enrichment toys and cage supplies; and her gentle grooming services. Often called a “bird whisperer” when it comes to handling birds, she has a special knack for taking the most cantankerous birds out of their travel cages for clippings or nail/beak trimmings– even when their owners cannot!

Over the years, Renee has taken her entrepreneurial career and business to another level, becoming certified as an Avian Specialist and developing a solid reputation for excellence among bird owners, veterinarians and industry manufacturers in the region. She expanded the store’s inventory, offering food and supplies for dogs, cats, wild birds and small animals – much to the delight of her ever-growing customer base.

Today, Jungle Junction is located in Cumberland, R.I. Conveniently located near Routes 295 and 146, the store attracts customers from Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and far beyond who make the drive to this colorful bird paradise.
